The Day Tests:

I just have the opportunity of testing a prototype SLR Magic HyperPrime CINE T0.95 / 50mm lens on my GH2 (.
This is an incredible lens, very sharp, even at full aperture. It’s a T0.95 very fast lens, that is an equivalence of f/0.92 !!!

Panasonic GH2 24P

Olympus M. Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 Review

Matthew Duclos of Duclos Lenses has posted a review of the Olympus M. Zuiko 45mm F1.8 lens. Check it out here.

Chromatic aberrations are present but well controlled. You can see some obvious purple fringing in some of the samples where I intentionally over-exposed the background on a dimmer foreground object. The fringing is a bit more controlled at mid-range apertures but increase a bit more at the smallest apertures. Sharpness is very good in the center with almost no falloff out to the edges. Same goes for light falloff and distortion, all well controlled. There is a minor flare when shooting wide open at f/1.8.

Vincent Laforet’s take on the “Organic” noise Canon C300

Vincent Laforet’s has posted a detailed analysis on the “organic” noise of the Canon C300. It is a very interesting read, and goes is one of the few somewhat in-depth articles about the actual aesthetic of the C300 not just the specs. Check it out here.

I can speak to this “organic” noise, following a half-decade of experience working in a series of darkrooms at the start of my photographic career (black and white film, C-41, and E-6) and regularly holding up a loop below a projected negative to ensure focus.

Peter Jackson *NEW* Red Epic details from The Hobbit set

M43 Rumors is confirming that the Panasonic GX1 will have a 16 megapixel sensor.

Of course every rumor is questionable, and so are mine. But there are some websites saying the GX1 will have a 12 Megapixel sensor. And many readers contacted me to ask me if that is true. I am writing this post to answer you all and to confirm you again that my sources are telling me that it has a 16 Megapixel sensor. And I am 99,999% sure I am right :)

Anyway, it doesn’t matter that much now. The GX1 will be announced on Tuesday 8 November at 6-7am London time. Be sure to be online at 43rumors! I will update you with all news and reviews. And I want to remind you that we now have a new Facebook fanpage (Click here) you should join!

The rumor mill is buzzing and different rumor sites have different release dates for the upcoming “professional” edition of the Panasonic GF series. M4/3 Rumors claims that it will be released on November 8th and photo rumors claims it will be released tomorrow Oct 28th.

AVCHD 2.0 expands to include 1080 50p and 60p

The AVCHD video format specification has been updated to include 1080 60p and 50p video. The AVCHD 2.0 standard has been approved by Sony and Panasonic – the co-promoters of the format. The move also includes additional support for high definition 3D movies in the format. Up until now, both companies have made high-end camcorders that incorporated out-of-specification 60p video in what was otherwise an AVCHD arrangement.
