Sony NEX-7 vs Sony NEX-5N

Digital Rev has posted a Sony NEX-7 vs. Sony NEX-5N article here.

Hands On: Sony F65 Camera Overview

We have had a number of different events over the last few months featuring Sony’s F65 camera. The F65 offers unparallelled 8k resolution and produces stunning 4k imagery. We’ve done a lot of testing with it, and found both the resolution and dynamic range to be off the charts. For all of you that were not able to attend our events, I put together this short video covering some of the big features of the camera; stay tuned for future videos on workflow and data management. The F65 has a special package price offer through Dec 26th, so make sure to speak with our sales team if you are interested.

Canon C300 Test Film

This film is a Test of the Canon C300 camera using Canon ef lenses.
We filmed different scenes around Chelsea in London to see how the C300 dealt with the varied conditions offered on a London street.
It was a very windy day so were dealing with sun in & out, a bit of rain and generally the constant changing weather you get on location.
This was our 1st proper opportunity to use the C300 and try out it’s form factor.
It performed very well holding detail in highlights and also shadows where we didn’t expect and because of the quality of the LCD screen and viewfinder it is much easier to operate.
The Camera was set to 1920 x 1080 @ 50m/bs – 25p we used the Normal 3 Gamma curve & Matrix.
I have set Vimeo to play this at 1080P so it may take longer to playback but please comment if you want it back at the standard 720.

Nikon D4 Important Video Specs

The Nikon D4 has been announced and here is a quick run down of some of the video specs that really caught my eye.

“Uncompressed” HDMI out
Headphone Jack
Full 1080p FX,DX,and 2.7x View Modes.

There are lots of other specs but those are the big ones. Particularly the ability to go from full frame to Super 35mm to 16mm in full 1080p on paper looks pretty amazing. Could this be the king of the hybrid cameras?

Here is the full spec list below.

Lens Test w/ Zeiss ZE and CP2′s, Canon L Series and Leica R Glass

Shane Hurlbut has posted a lens test on his blog. The video is locked to the blog so you will have to click here to check it out.

We have been using Canon, Leica, and Zeiss lenses but haven’t had the chance to compare them all side by side. Shane saw this as a good learning exercise and asked us to put together a lens test. We used 18 lenses, lit the scenes with our home depot lighting kit, and spent a day shooting four scenarios to compare the aesthetics between the lenses for video. We kept our settings consistent between the lenses and here are our results. Take them with a grain of salt as it’s not a definitive test but more of a practical observation.
