Canon C300 Test Film

This film is a Test of the Canon C300 camera using Canon ef lenses.
We filmed different scenes around Chelsea in London to see how the C300 dealt with the varied conditions offered on a London street.
It was a very windy day so were dealing with sun in & out, a bit of rain and generally the constant changing weather you get on location.
This was our 1st proper opportunity to use the C300 and try out it’s form factor.
It performed very well holding detail in highlights and also shadows where we didn’t expect and because of the quality of the LCD screen and viewfinder it is much easier to operate.
The Camera was set to 1920 x 1080 @ 50m/bs – 25p we used the Normal 3 Gamma curve & Matrix.
I have set Vimeo to play this at 1080P so it may take longer to playback but please comment if you want it back at the standard 720.

Canon EOS C300 = Awesome Test Video

Probably the funniest Canon EOS 300 video you will see.

In early Fall 2011, I shot some footage with a pre-production model of the Canon EOS C300 for one week in NYC. I created an article and a video for Canon based on my experiences with the camera. The video is meant to poke fun at most camera test videos I’ve seen over the years. Canon, not thrilled with my sense of humor, does not credit or condone this video, but I think it shows a lot of the camera’s strengths.

Panasonic GX1 Video Test Footage

source: M43 Rumors

Sample movie filmed handheld with the Panasonic Lumix GX1 using its 14-42mm Power Zoom kit lens and the best quality 1080/50i AVCHD movie setting. My sample came from a PAL region, hence the 50i frame rate.

This video is part of my Panasonic Lumix GX1 preview at Camera Labs:

Canon S100 1080 24P Video Test

Footage from the new Canon S100 with its image stabilized 1080 @ 24p video mode is starting to emerge. Could this be the new Sony HX9V but with 24P? I loved my little HX9V but I ended up getting rid of it because I really needed 1080@24p in a b-cam point and shoot.

Panasonic GH2 Tokyo Test Footage Olympus 12mm F2 (Blade Runner Homage)

Source:EOS HD

Blade Runner Homage shot in Tokyo with the Panasonic GH2 and Olympus 12mm F2.0. Seeing footage of Tokyo like this in the rain makes any Blade Runner fan want to catch the next flight to Narita International!

Check out the EOS HD site for more details about the test.

The Olympus 12mm is an F2 lens not quite as fast as the SLR Magic 12mm F1.6, although I often stop that down to F2 to get flare down to an acceptable level and increase contrast. I can use the Olympus wide open and it is sharp and very flare resistant. I like both lenses but the Olympus is a MUCH more expensive. However as you’d expect it has better image quality, with hardly any distortion and it’s very sharp wide open. AF is of the next-gen video optimised variety, it is extremely stable in video mode and never hunts randomly in the middle of a shot.

Amazingly I actually left it on for most of the shoot! I never use AF, always manual, but in this case it was just so rock-solid that it got out of the way and did the job for me. It is also extremely fast and silent. Focussing is all internal, nothing moves. This is what Canon need to work on with their future lenses.
