Vincent Laforet live interview with Dane Sanders

http://blog.fasttrackphotographer.com/2011/11/08/vincent-laforet-with-dane-sanders/

Vincent Laforet is in a league all his own. The pulitzer prize winning photographer surprised all of us a few years back when he made the jump to become a world-altering filmmaker. I mean, who does that? I’ll tell you who… people with the goods to back it up. That’s Vincent.

I’m VERY excited to have him on in anticipation of his brand new book due out NEXT WEEK called Visual Stories: Behind the Lens with Vincent Laforet. In a word, the book is transcendent. He takes you places you didn’t know you were allowed to go and then goes a little further. What’s great about Vincent though is how accessible he is. Tune in this week to be inspired and provoked to greater creativity.

Q: I saw some many third-party accessories for the camera (OConnor, Steadicam, Transvideo, Manfrotto, Red Rock, Zacuto, 3Ality Technica 3D, AJA, Cine Deck, Arri…

A: We’ve actually been working fairly closely with other companies, including ARRI, to accommodate their accessories and systems. Of course, ARRI has accessories for the lenses. And we’d like to supply lenses for their cameras. We sort of view them, in some ways, as a partner.

DPREVIEW:Canon EOS C300 launch: Interview with Larry Thorpe

DPREVIEW.COM has interesting article with Larry Thorpe from Canon regarding the new Canon EOS C300.

We think this is a very very good start but there’s no question that 4K is coming, so we have to keep our eye on that. As for a lower cost model [...] that would make a lot of sense in the marketplace. We have a master plan and [the C300] is step one – into HD. We’ve stepped in, and we’re never going to stop. We’re in for the long term. Wherever the marketplace dictates that we should go, and wherever our technology allows us to go, we’ll be there.

Leica Interview – 2011″optical finders will get less and less important”

source:Megapixel

There were a few great quotes from the megapixel interview with Leica.

The main quote being.

Q: Another mirrorless related question – one of the big issues when giving up the mirror is the move from optical to digital viewfinder. How important do you think optical viewfinder is for Leica users and when you look at the current crop of 1.4 MP viewfinders do you think they are good enough or do you really must have the quality of the new Sony 2.4 MP viewfinder? (Alternatively what do you think about the X100 hybrid viewfinder as an option?).

A: I think that the quality of the 1.4MP finders is already very good, and sometimes even more accurate than an optical finder, think of white balance or exposure. Over time, as technology is improving, optical finders will get less and less important. The X100 finder is a very nice concept and well executed.

Looks like more fuel for the fire of the evolution of the EVF.
